Mums who can provide milk

Lactating mothers in good health who have enough milk after feeding her own baby.

Mothers whose own babies are in good health and thriving

Mothers who have at least 6L+ frozen storage space

Mothers who are generally healthy and do not take certain medication on a regular basis

Mothers who do not smoke, and do not drink excessively

Mums who cannot provide milk

  • Current smokers, or use nicotine replacement therapy (NRT)

  • Those who regularly exceed recommended alcohol levels during breastfeeding (1 to 2 units, once or twice a week)

  • Using, or have recently used, recreational drugs

  • Have or has a sexual partner suffering from HBV, HIV, HCV & venereal diseases.

  • Have a family history or increased risk for Creutzfeld-Jakob disease (mad cow disease)

  • Have previously tested positive for HIV 1 or 2, Hepatitis B or C, human t-lymphotropic virus (HTLV) type 1 or 2, or Syphilis
  • Currently have mastitis/fungal infection of the nipple or areola
  • Have a baby under 1 that is not getting breastmilk from their mother.
  • Mothers with herpes simplex / varicella zoster infections in mammary / thoracic region.
